SL: "This is where I really started enjoying this whole solo thing, and trying to push my songwriting. There are elements of obscure glam punk, newer (at the time) bands like the Street Dogs, and even the 50's style for 'Moon Over the Cemetery,' which my band, Hit Me First, did in 2008. Early in NDZ's career, we also did Miserable Girl, a lot faster than it is here! Summer of '87 is one of my favorite songs i've ever written. At this time, I was still really busted up about the Bad Rabbits' breakup, and we'd tried to put the band back together in March of '07, but it didn't work out, so Summer of '87 (the title is a reference to long-closed Club 87 in Middlefield, OH, where we did our first shows) is sort of harkening back to when things were easier."
